Always On Campus: The Cedar of Lebanon - A Symbol of Strength and Renewal

Published on February 8, 2025

Our Alumni roots are rooted back on campus. The Cedar of Lebanon has gracefully taken ground on our Ras Beirut campus, in the garden of Martin House, standing as a testament to resilience, heritage, and hope. In a momentous gathering on Independence Day, the President of ICAA, Dr. Samer Doughan and the ICAA Board Members marked the beginning of their journey by bringing this symbol to IC Ras Beirut. Each member took turns carefully scattering sand around the tree’s roots, ensuring it would be lovingly cared for in its new home—the school that nurtured their growth over the years and inspired them to give back to the IC community.

Once towering in the majestic Arz Mountains, this sacred tree—renowned for its strength, longevity, and immortality—now finds new ground in our school. Its soaring branches reflect our shared aspirations, symbolizing fresh beginnings, unity, and boundless growth within our community.

The board members were warmly welcomed by IC President Tobin Wait, alongside the IC Board of Trustees and esteemed community leaders, as they planted this powerful symbol of our nation’s enduring legacy. IC Ras Beirut members further enhanced the celebration by offering a delightful spread of drinks and food, creating a heartwarming atmosphere for all.

Beneath the tree lies a timeless biblical promise:

May our nation, school, alumni, and students continue to

"flourish like a palm tree and grow strong like the Cedar of Lebanon." (Psalm 92:12)
